The Brazilian was a legend in his lifetime, but in the
image of Jimmy Clark 26 years ago, his death has turned into myth. Ayrton
Senna da Silva was mostly an extraordinarily fast driver, able to give more
than anyone else in any qualification. His record pole-positions will
certainly hard to beat and it is only a just reward for him. It starts in
F1 in 1984 after disgusted competition in Formula Ford and F3 in Britain. A
modest Telemann he will sometimes pull out of the game, like in Monaco where
the deluge it will melt the leader Alain Prost (like yours ...) before the race
was stopped. His disappointment was terrible but Monaco is therefore the
preferred field Thurs From 1987 to 1993 (his last appearance) he may escape
the victory only once, in 1988 a huge mistake when he was driving more than 50
seconds ahead of everyone! By integrating the team Lotus in 1985 it has a
competitive car and won his first success and his first pole. He finished
fourth championship in 1985 and 1986. It was also at this time that he
rubs Nigel for victory. The Spanish GP in 1986 he defeated Nigel to 0'014,
the smallest gap in the history of the world championship! In 1987 comes
the first clash between the two great drivers at Spa. Nigel misses his
flight and when he tries to board the Brazilian is the inevitable collision. Nigel
returns to the pits pissed and goes to hit the poor Lotus driver there where it
really hurts! Everyone who attended the scene was dismayed, and in 1987
the two pilots will regularly compete directly on the track. In 1988 he
joined McLaren, and has therefore the ultimate weapon: it connects victories
and securities. The GP of Portugal 1989 Ayrton Nigel comes back from the
road, then it rolls disqualified (under black flag for many laps!). It
says that since neither one nor the other wants to give this regularly end up
in the wall or the sandbox! However, during the Spanish GP in 1991,
neither leaves the track when Nigel Ayrton exceeds the end of the pit straight. After
amazing wheels wheels against more than 500 m, the British emerged victorious
from the duel. This moment of grace is undoubtedly one of the strongest
moments of the decade left to the history books unalterable image of sporting
combat F1. In 1992 there is no match, so the Williams- Renault Nigel
ridicules competition. History will record that the last confrontation between
the two great rivals ends ... in the background! In Adelaide, for his
(first) farewell to F1, Nigel is struck by the car and Ayrton both world
champions must leave. 1993 Ayrton is on the verge of joining Nigel United
States. Indeed, a few days before the British, he tries a car of Penske
team, before finally announcing he will play the world championship with
McLaren F1. Convinced that Williams is the only car that can do win a
fourth title, he left McLaren for stable Widcott at the end of the year and
thus pushes Prost retired. 1994 start with two draws scores before
dramatic weekend in Imola. Extremely shocked by the death of Ratzenberger
during qualifying, he did not want to confess then play the race the next day. Thousand
times alas, it runs as a professional driver. He kills himself out of the
track at Turn of tamburello. It was of course in mind ... His death is
seen as a national tragedy in Brazil, where it was seen as a true icon.
